The investigation

The examination takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The doctor will first ask you about your medical history and any family history of skin cancer (anamnesis). Then the entire skin including the scalp, all visible mucous membranes and nails will be examined. You will need to undress completely for this. In our clinic, a reflected light microscope (dermatoscope) is used for every skin cancer screening to examine the deeper layers of the skin. Skin changes, especially pigment spots, are magnified tenfold using a dermatoscope, which enables a more accurate diagnosis. It is also advisable to avoid make-up and nail polish. This prevents conspicuous areas of skin from being concealed.

In the event of a conspicuous skin mark, our doctors will initiate further examinations.
